Welcome To West Wirral Reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a natural therapy founded on the belief that your feet and hands are a reflection of the systems in your body - where specific areas correspond to organs, glands and structure. By applying gentle pressure to areas of the feet or hands a Reflexologist can help the body restore its own healthy balance.

Evidence has been found for some form of foot and hand therapy being practised in China and Egypt more than four thousand years ago.

Reflexology aims to treat the individual as a whole, creating a state of harmony in both body and mind.

It has the benefit of also being a deeply relaxing therapy, and during periods of relaxation the body takes the opportunity to heal, restore and energise itself.

Reflexology is suitable for all ages, from baby to adult, and can be especially helpful for long-term and recurring conditions.

Reflexology does not diagnose; it is a complementary therapy and it should not be considered an alternative to conventional medicine.

What Happens During a Treatment?

First Treatment

Your first treatment will involve a consultation so that we can discuss any current medical conditions, lifestyle situation and what you are hoping to achieve in receiving the treatments.

This consultation is important, to enable me to tailor my treatment for your personal situation. It will mean the first appointment is longer than normal. I would allow 1.5 hours for this first session.

After our discussion, I will set up my equipment. It is all high quality and recommended by the AOR, for example, the La Fuma reclining chair.

Once relaxed and comfortable, I will commence the treatment.

Reflexology is performed entirely on the feet and ankles, so the most you’ll have to do is take off your socks and roll up your trousers! During the treatment you will lie on your back on a reclining chair, covered with a soft blanket to keep you warm.

Some people prefer silence, some prefer to chat. This is your time, so the decision is yours.

I use the best waxes and oils. These can be perfumed or unscented. They can be vegan based. Again, this is your choice.

Subsequent Treatments

These do not require a further consultation, but please let me know if there have been any changes to your circumstances, medical or personal.

These treatments last approximately 50 minutes.

My aim always, is to support you on your wellbeing journey.

This is my core belief when working with clients.

Every client receives their own bespoke treatment, aftercare advice and support.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is different and the response to Reflexology can be immediate or sometimes take longer than one appointment, but often benefits can be seen after 4-5 sessions. Regular weekly treatments are best for the body properly beginning the self-healing process, and following an initial consultation I will suggest the number of Reflexology sessions I think we should undertake.

Can you diagnose my health problems?

Reflexologists cannot claim to diagnose or cure, but during a treatment we get 'feedback' as to which parts of the body are working well and which are not. Sometimes Reflexology will highlight a specific area which is struggling or working hard to maintain your wellbeing; if a particular reflex point shows this kind of reaction I'll discuss it with you at the end of the session.

Does reflexology hurt?

You might find some areas feel sensitive to the touch, but Reflexology does not involve hard pressing in the way something like a sports massage might. As a therapist I will be aware of the status of your feet, noticing how they feel, the temperature and colour. All these things play a part in understanding which areas of your body - as reflected through your feet - require a bit more care and attention.

I can also offer reflexology on your hands as an alternative to feet.

Can I keep on having Reflexology?

After an initial course of treatment many people choose to check in monthly for a top-up, to help maintain their general wellbeing, or as a scheduled 'de-stress'. Other clients will get back in touch if they start feeling aches and pains, arranging treatments as and when they need them.

Some people have it once a week, some people have it once a year. It’s your decision.

Personally, I have it every 2 weeks. I see it as an investment in my health as it reduces my stress levels considerably.

Are there conditions where Reflexology would not be suitable?

The AOR recommends we do not treat clients with the following;

History of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

Severe cellulitis

Contagious diseases

Unstable or unmanaged conditions

Clients under the influence

If you are planning on having any tests, procedures, or surgery – we suggest leaving reflexology for 48 hours before and after

How much does Reflexology cost?

A Reflexology session lasts 50 minutes and costs £50.

If you buy 6 sessions upfront, it will cost £270 which works out at £45 per session.

How can I pay?

You can pay cash or card reader at the time of the appointment or by this link.
